I'm Back with more information!! LOL, well I graduated High School thank God in the early 1990s and I still loved my Queen...From
the period of "The Immaculate Collection" to the song 'This used to be my playground' was about 18 long months... but in this time, i finished school and attempted college unsuccessfully the first time!!
In the summer of 1992, i landed my first job working at a restaurant...whoopie doo!! But it was a job and I was fairly happy...I escaped school and met my best straight male friend there... Luckily I didn't have to wait long before Madonna released her 6th studio record titled 'Erotica'
Every song on that Record blew me away and at the time it came out, I came out... not to the world, but to myself...I realized that I was gay and I was afraid, but that record saved my life especially the song "Deeper and Deeper"... to me I kinda took the meaning as a gay man falling in love with a straight man and Madonna saying it's ok...you fall deeper and deeper the further you go and if you have loving parents they support you know matter what!! The only thing I didn't like about the record 'Erotica' was "This used to Be my Playground" wasn't on that reocrod... It was a great number 1 song... But all the other 6 singles including 'Erotica' which made my cousin Sally crazy, "Deeper and Deeper", "Bad Girl" my favourite song from the record, "Fever", "Rain" and "Bye-Bye Baby" were awesome songs... At the time in early 1993 I went back to college to pursue my degree, but was extremely depressed... "Bad Girl" really made me happy again....Everytime I hear that song I go apeshit!! I know it did bad on the charts, but it's just an amazing song and I saw M perform it on SNL back Jan. 1993. Oops I forgot to tell you that I bought The Book "Sex" the Same October day I bought "Erotica" and my 2 friends Missy and David and I Watched "Body of Evidence" in Jan. 1993. Too bad they all three weren't released together or Madonna got to put some extra songs left off Erotica on that flim... She did an amazing job in Body Of Evidence!!
I would have to say Erotica is my 2nd all time favourite record behind Like A Prayer... Each song deals with a different theme and each song has a different beat!! And Madonna's style at the time was very beautiful!! Here are some more pics of that era!! And then I will move on:
By 1994, I was pretty pleased with my life and the way it was going. I was still not out, but I was still longing for a man and someone to love me... 'Bedtime Stories' was released in Oct. 1994 just 2 years after "'Sex'" and 'Erotica' were released...
Like Erotica, Bedtime Stories, focused on a softer side of Madonna..Each song was different and Take a Bow and Bedtime Story were my favourites... nuff said on that record because it wasn't my favourite...
In the years that followed Madonna released another Compilation Titled Somthing to Remember which was very unique at the time...Her greatest ballads which contained This use to be my playground, Crazy For You, and I'll Remember previously not available on any Madonna reocord!!
This record had some great classics on it, so many people considered it a greatest hits compilation, but it was just a greatest ballads compilation... "You'll See" was probably the biggest hit off the record!!
I guess by 1997, Madonna was ready to settle down with a family...she announced she was pregnant with her first child while filming EVITA!! A great Musical Movie... Some great Songs "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "You Must Love Me' Burned up the charts in the mid to late 1990s... but they were ok... not my favourites...
By the late 1990s Madonna released her last record of that decade her 8th studio record "Ray of Light"
"Ray Of Light" is considered by many to be the "Like A Prayer" of the 1990s... Each song was a personal song that had great lyrics...every song on "Ray of Light" could have been a single... "Frozen", "Ray of Light", Drowned World/Substitute For Love", "The Power Of Good-Bye", and "Nothing Really Matters" were all wonderful singles... I would have to say at this point in my life 'Drowned World' and 'The Power of Good-Bye' and 'Skin' were my favourites..I graduated College with a BA in Fine Arts and I was finally going in the career path I intented to go! The 1990s was a wonderful decade... We were at Peace and had very few bad things happen with the exception of Columbine in 1999 and the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995, and the WTC Bomb and Waco of 1993 and the shooting down of Flight TWA 800 in 1996! Madonna proved again that the songs she sang in the 1990s were full of life and brought smiles to the world!
One last thing about this chapter is "Beautiful Stranger" later released on GHV2 her 2nd Greatest Hits album of the 1990s... This song was from the Austin Powers Movie! It was a 1960s retro themed song that kind of reminded me of Serena from Bewitched!!
