Happy Halloween

Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31.

It has roots in the Celtic pagan festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration, but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.[1][2][3] Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America during Ireland's Great Famine of the 1840s.[4]

The day is often associated with orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, reading scary stories, and watching horror films.

2007: The Year in Madonna

Well this certainly has been an interesting year for all Madonna fans... Madonna has done quite a lot this year... Back in January she released her CD/DVD "Confessions Tour Live" and then the movie "Arthur and the Invisibles" came out that month too!!

Madonna Confessions Tour DVD

In March she signed on with H&M and done her own clothing designs, which made her more popular throughout the world.

bigger

In April, Madonna flew to Malawai to help build an orphange, and let David revisit his father... She also filmed the Documentary which will come out in 2008 called "I am Because We Are".

Later in the Spring, Madonna released her first single of 2007, called "Hey You", which was a charity single for Live Earth. She performed it at Live Earth on July 7th 2007 and sang three songs including the hit single "Hey You". This concert was to benefit Global Warming which is not a hoax contrary to what some believe! AKA George W. Bush! Like Madonna says, "Go To Texas and BLEEP"!

Also in 2007, Madonna was busy recording her new studio record... This time she teams up with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams... The record is scheduled for release in 2008!! A few songs did leak on the net which were "Candy Shop" and "The Beat Goes On" and the later song climbed the charts in some countries...

Madonna also directed her first film titled "Filth and Wisdom", which will come out later in 2008. Madonna is new a certified director!! Congratulations my Queen!!

Probably the biggest news of 2007 for Madonna, is that she did not renew her contract with Warner Bros. She has been with them since 1982. Instead, Madonna signed a 10 year deal with Artist Nation or Live Nation which in the next 10 years she will record 3 more studio albums, a compilation album and will do 4 tours for them among other things...

Madonna also released 4 books during 2007:

The English Roses - 01 Friends For Life!

The English Roses - 02 Good-Bye Grace?

The English Roses - 03 The New Girl

The English Roses - 04 A Rose by Any Other Name
- September 2007

She also flew to Israel in September 2007 for the Jewish Holiday Yom Kippur, with Rosie, Demi and a few friends and promised to include a song about peace on her new record.

She also is on the 2007 single for Annie Lennox called "Sing", so yes Madonna did have some singles this year! Very exciting!!

On December 13, 2007, it was announced that Madonna would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. So again Congratulations my Queen!!

Finally here is to 2008, another Madonna calendar we fans can not do without!! Long Reign Madonna!!

My Tribute to Liz Montgomery

Liz Montgomery lived her short life as an actress, mother, friend, and a great person...She was very liberal and took political action on things which she believed to be true to her... Civil Rights, Gay Rights, Women's Rights, and Cover ups! Those were just a few things Ms. Montgomery believed in...

Her third Husband, William Asher, said that she was one of a kind and the kindest one he knew!!

Thanx to wikipedia here is her biography:

Elizabeth Victoria Montgomery (April 15, 1933 – May 18, 1995) was an American film and television actress whose career spanned five decades. She is best remembered for her famous roles as Samantha Stephens in Bewitched, as Ellen Harrod in A Case of Rape and as Lizzie Borden in The Legend of Lizzie Borden.

Biography

Youth

Born in Los Angeles, California, Elizabeth Montgomery was born to actor Robert Montgomery and his wife, Broadway actress Elizabeth Bryan Allen. She had an older sister, Martha Bryan Montgomery, who died before she was born, and a brother, Robert Montgomery, Jr., who was born in 1936. She attended The Spence School.

Early career

Montgomery made her television debut in her father's series Robert Montgomery Presents, and her film debut in 1955 in The Court Martial of Billy Mitchell.

Her early career consisted of starring vehicles and appearances in live television dramas and series, such as Studio One, Kraft Television Theater, The Twilight Zone, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In 1954 she lost out on co-starring with Marlon Brando in the seminal film On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan. Kazan in his autobiography says that although Montgomery tested well in the role, she had an air of "finishing school" that troubled him.[citation needed]

She was also featured in a role as a socialite with Henry Silva and Sammy Davis, Jr in the offbeat 1963 gangster film Johnny Cool and, the same year, with Dean Martin and Carol Burnett in the motion picture comedy Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?, directed by Daniel Mann. Nevertheless, Alfred Hitchcock had her in mind to play the sister-in-law of Sean Connery, who sees herself as a rival to the troubled heroine in the movie Marnie, but Montgomery was unavailable due to her commitment to a new television show: Bewitched.

Bewitched

Montgomery played the central role of Samantha Stephens with Dick York (and later with Dick Sargent), in the ABC situation comedy Bewitched. The show became a rating success (it was, at the time, the highest rated series ever for the network). It enjoyed an eight-year run from 1964 to 1972 and remains popular through syndication and DVD releases. She also provided the voice of Samantha for an episode of The Flintstones.

Montgomery received five Emmy Award and four Golden Globe nominations for her role. At its creative peak, Bewitched was considered one of the most sophisticated sitcoms on the air and cleverly explored contemporary themes and social issues within a fantasy context.

The series and Montgomery's portrayal of Samantha were paid homage in the 2005 movie, Bewitched, starring Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman.

After Bewitched

Although Montgomery enjoyed enormous success with the show, she felt typecast and pigeonholed when she sought other roles after the show's run ended. Montgomery refused to do Samantha's famous nose twitch for fans after Bewitched went off the air, and was reluctant to discuss the show.

Montgomery returned to Samantha-like twitching of her nose and on-screen magic in a series of Japanese television commercials (1980-83) for "Mother" chocolate biscuits and cookies by confectionery conglomerate Lotte Corp. These Japanese commercials provided a lucrative salary for Montgomery while remaining out of sight from non-Japanese fans and Hollywood industry. The commercials were posted on YouTube in 2007.

In the United States, Montgomery spent much of her later career pursuing dramatic roles that took her as far away from the good-natured Samantha as possible. Among her later roles:

* She received Emmy Award nominations for playing a rape victim in A Case of Rape (1974), for her portrayal of Lizzie Borden in William Bast's The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975), and for her role as a strong woman facing hardship in 1820s Ohio in the mini-series The Awakening Land (1978).
* In 1977, Montgomery turned heads when she played a police detective having an interracial affair with her partner, played byOJ Simpson in A Killing Affair.
* She also made a chilling villain in the 1985 picture Amos, playing a nurse in a state home who terrorized residents Kirk Douglas and Dorothy McGuire.
* One of her final roles was in an episode of Batman: The Animated Series entitled "Showdown," in which she played a barmaid.
* She also had a long run as a guest performer on the game show Password, and host Allen Ludden referred to her as the best Password player ever on the show.
* Her final television movies were the highly-rated Edna Buchanan detective series.

Montgomery was one of the first actresses to broaden her career from series work with television movies, and set the precedent for other TV series actresses, such as Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, Melissa Gilbert, Carol Burnett, and Barbara Eden, to follow.

She had been discussed to star in the 1975 thriller based on the novel by Ira Levin, The Stepford Wives and, in 1994, Premiere magazine listed her as one of the stars considered to play glamorous, overbearing "Pearl Slaghoople" (Wilma's Mother) in the live-action film of The Flintstones.

Personal life

Montgomery was first married to New York socialite Frederick Gallatin Cammann in 1954; the marriage lasted barely a year. She was married to actor Gig Young from 1956 to 1963, and then to Bewitched producer William Asher from 1963 to 1973, with whom she had three children: William Asher (July 24, 1964), Robert Asher (October 5, 1965) and Rebecca Asher (June 17, 1969). The latter two pregnancies were incorporated into Bewitched as Samantha's pregnancies with Tabitha and Adam Stephens. After cohabiting for nearly twenty years, she entered her fourth and final marriage, to actor Robert Foxworth, in 1993. They remained married until her death.[1]

Political activism

In June 1992, Montgomery and her former Bewitched co-star Dick Sargent, who had remained a good friend, were Grand Marshals at the Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade. Montgomery had strongly liberal political views, being an outspoken champion of women's rights and gay rights throughout her life. She narrated a series of political documentaries in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including Coverup: Behind the Iran Contra Affair (1988) and the Academy Award winning The Panama Deception (1992).

Illness and death

Montgomery was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the spring of 1995. She had ignored the symptoms of her illness until it was too late during the filming of "Deadline for Murder: From the Files of Edna Buchanan." Unwilling to die in a hospital, and with no hope of recovery, she elected to return to her Beverly Hills home that she shared with Foxworth. She died there, in the company of her children and husband, on May 18, 1995, at age 62, only eight weeks after her diagnosis.

A memorial service was held on June 18, 1995, at the Canon Theatre in Beverly Hills. Herbie Hancock provided the music, and Dominick Dunne spoke about their early days as friends in New York. Other speakers included Robert Foxworth, who read out sympathy cards from fans, her nurse, her brother, daughter and stepson.

Posthumous

* On April 19, 1998, an event auction/sale of her clothing was held by her family to benefit AIDS Healthcare Foundation of Los Angeles.
* In June 2005, a statue of Montgomery as Samantha Stephens was erected in Salem, Massachusetts. [1]
* The Hollywood Walk of Fame has announced that the ceremony for Elizabeth Montgomery will be held at 10:30 on January 4, 2008. In conjunction with the long overdue event, The Paley Center for Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio) in Los Angeles will honor Ms. Montgomery with a film festival and marathon of TV episodes beginning at 1 pm, also on January 4th. Some of the programs being screened are The Legend of Lizzy Borden and A Case of Rape. Bewitched fans can vote for the episodes to be screened of the classic television program at the website BEWITCHED@HARPIESBIZZARE. The Paley Center will also feature an exhibition of artifacts related to Montgomery's life and career.[citation needed]

According to Herbie J. Pilato in his book "Bewitched Forever", Bewitched was supposed to run for 3 more seasons which would have ran up until 1975, however under the ABC contract Season 9 (1972-1973) was actually supposed to happen, but Liz decided not to come back after 1972 and the end of production on Season 8!! I think Poor Liz was just tired of the series, and some other things I won't mention, because that's no ones business but hers!!

This Statue was built in 2004 or 2005 in honour of Liz in Salem for the Bewitched Crew filming on Location during Season 7 of the series...

In Conclusion, be ready for Liz to finally get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 4th of January 2008!! I emailed the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce many times, but I am glad and grateful to whoever decided to finally give her recognition in the movie business...

Liz you are my guardian angel, and I always be grateful to you!!

In memory of Elizabeth Montgomery April 15, 1933 - May 18, 1995

I honestly think that if Liz were still here with us, she would definitely vote for the Impeachement of President Bush!! Liz you give me the Inspiration every day to write my Senators!! I Love You!!

National Coming Out Day!! What is it? Check Here!!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that today, October 11th is "National Coming Out Day"... On this day back in 1988, the day was founded for persons who are gay, lesbian, bi, transgendered, etc to come out to family and friends and be accepted FOR who they truly are!! They are people just like me and you, who have family, friends, beliefs, values, education, love, respect, etc... and deserve to have the same rights as people who are straight! It is time that we turn the tables around and give everyone a chance at happiness and not condone anyone regardless of their orientation, race, religion, gender, etc... Here is one video you may be interested in:

Here is some history behind this day!!

National Coming Out Day is an internationally-observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues. It is observed on October 11 by members of the LGBT communities and their supporters (often referred to as "allies"), because October is LGBT History Month in the United States. It's also affectionately named "Gay Day", "Queer Day", or "Homo Day" by the LGBT community.

Coming Out/Being "Open"

It is highly encouraged for participants in this movement to wear gay pride symbols, such as the pink triangle, the Greek letter lambda, and rainbows, in jewelry and on their clothing, to demonstrate their presence in all walks of life, all ages and all ethnic groups, this contributing to being open, or "coming out", about being queer in every day life.

History

The day was founded by Dr. Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary in 1988, in celebration of the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights one year earlier, in which 500,000 people marched on Washington, DC, USA, for gay and lesbian equality. National Coming Out Day events are aimed at raising awareness of the LGBT community among the general populace in an effort to give a familiar face to the LGBT rights movement.

Multi-national observance

In the United States, the Human Rights Campaign manages the event under the National Coming Out Project, offering resources to LGBT individuals, couples, parents and children, as well as straight friends and relatives, to promote awareness of LGBT families living honest and open lives. Candace Gingrich became the spokesperson for the day in April 1995.

National Coming Out Day was not observed in 2001 in the United States as it occurred on the one month anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Despite its name, National Coming Out Day, so called because it originated as a national event in the United States, is observed in many countries, including Switzerland, Germany and Great Britain.

Can You Turn Me Straight?
Special Section 2007
At the heart of the controversy of gay rights is the question of whether homosexuality is a choice and, if so, whether it can be changed. Because the issue is deeply personal to many GLBT people who feel pressured to change, it has spawned a sort of cottage industry for therapists and ministers.

The belief held by transformational ministries is the idea that faith, perseverance and divine intervention can cure homosexuality. However, results from published studies on results of conversion therapy show anywhere from 0.4% to 15% success rates, even after four years of therapy.

Elyse Deleski, Ph.D. believes that any therapy that has such a low success rate shouldn't be taken seriously. In fact, these therapies are doing more harm than good.

What would you tell someone who felt they needed to change? Do you believe anyone can change their sexual orientation?

Quoting the Bible to Support a Dying Prejudice?
Special Section 2007
The Bible has been used for centuries to support various forms of predudice and power struggle. This includes:

to support the Divine Right of Kings in 1215
to oppose Galileo in the 17th century
to oppose Darwin in the 19th century
to support slavery and apartheid in the 19th and 20th centuries
to keep women from being educated, voting and being ordained in the 20th and 21st century
"Today the Bible is quoted to continue the oppression and rejection of homosexual people. The Bible has lost each of those previous battles. It will lose the present battle as well," said retired Newark Bishop John Shelby Spong.

"Just as the Church was historically wrong in its treatment of women, so now as a result of your leadership, we are espousing a position about homosexuality that is dated, uninformed, inhumane and frankly embarrassing," Spong wrote. "No learned person stands there today."

"I take the long view of history," Bishop Gene Robinson says. "The debate will end with full inclusion of GLBT people in the life and ministry of the Church. We're really only arguing about timing."

For many, it is only a matter of time before GLBT people are fully accepted and no longer rejected based on Biblical interpretations. How have you experienced or seen the Bible used maliciously or to oppress others? How many years do you feel are left before the gay community is fully accepted?

Here is one last video... Check it out!!

And to the people that don't accept us...try to live in our shoes for just one day... then maybe you can see what it's like on the other side of the fence...

Rosie O'Donnell, Jesus, Hell & Religion

I love Rosie, I love Jesus, but what I don't understand is why people think that if you are gay you are automatically going to Hell!! LOL, it's too funny... Jesus is love, and a great man... Being gay is not a choice nor is it something we can turn off and on! A true Christian does not judge one and does not tell someone how to believe! Here are some questions Rosie gets on her blog daily!!

1)Kelly!!!!! writes:

Why are you rejecting Jesus? He is your ONLY Saviour and the ONLY way to Heaven. Don't take a chance because you could die tomorrow and it will be too late. Eternity is a long time to be in HELL!

Rosie replies:

kel
u worry about ur hell
and i will worry about mine
jesus is about love
calm
peace
fear not

2)Kristi writes:

Ro-
Jesus died for all of us, including you. We receive eternal life through Him.

Rosie replies:

u recieve that kristi
i understand

3)bj writes:

Ro, Jesus is only TRUTH, read John. If bad things happen in NY again, need some gold and go upward in boat. My hubbie does not think US will survive thru tribulation after rapture. luv me

Rosie replies:

waiting for rapture ?

hard 2 imagine
truly

4)Debbie writes:

Only Jesus can save your soul from eternal damnation!

Rosie replies:

u cant know
what my soul needs

ur soul can only be saved with jesus
let that be ur only concern
deb

I have to sit back and think why people who are "SO Called Christians" have to push their beliefs on us!! I always say I chose to be gay the same day you chose to be straight! Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Ann Coulter, George Bush and a few others are very anti-gay! Gays have a hard enough time in the world, but we are people just like everyone else... we could be your neighbour, your pastor, your banker, your teacher, etc... But please don't tell someone they are going to Hell because they don't believe the way you do! I would never force Reincarnation on someone or tell G.W. he would be a rat in his next life! Nuff said it's almost the second decade of the 21st Century! Just remember Tammy Faye was a great Christian woman who loved Gays and accepted us and her son is a great preacher who accepts us too!! Thank you God for the good honest Christians!!
